The Quay Hotel & Spa Green Policy
We here at The Quay Hotel & Spa want to ensure we are doing our bit to
minimising its impact on the environment. Our aim is to introduce
something new every year that benefits the environment and the Hotel.
Rooms
The Quay Hotel & Spa have changed our consumption of plastic in the rooms by replacing small plastic tubes of soap, shower gel, shampoo and body lotion that are thrown once opened and replaced with wall-mounted dispensers. This eliminates over 90% of plastic being thrown when a room is serviced. We also recycle all plastic, paper, glass, canned items and cardboard that is left in a bedroom. We encourage guests to re-use their towels.
Electric Car Chargers
We encourage the use of electric and hybrid vehicles for our guests and have installed two electric car chargers to use. More information can be provided on this by contacting our reception team.
Insulation
All of the hotel windows are double-glazed, and the entire building is thermally tested every year to monitor for any energy losses.
Electricity
We have replaced 95% of lighting in the hotel is now LED energy-saving bulbs, which has reduced energy output. We have installed motion sensors on all our bedroom corridors to control the LED lights to ensure usage is reduced.
Buildings
Our teams carry out regular maintenance checks on all the hotel buildings.
Drainage
Grease traps are used throughout the kitchen and a planned maintenance programme is in place to maintain all of the hotel drains on a regular basis.
Recycling
We recycle paper, cardboard, tinned items and glass. We work closely with Veolia, which is a company that specialises in environmental solutions to find new ways to recycle waste. Cooking oil is collected by a licenced contractor and recycled.
Food and Drink
At the Quay Hotel & Spa and we source locally produced food and wine to save fuel consumption.
